E-reader sales triple annually

Wearable Technology 2016-2026
Sriram Peruvemba, Chief Marketing Officer for E ink, reported at a conference last week that E book readers could hit 25 million to 30 million units this year - about three times the number sold in 2010.
He reported that due primarily to the huge success of the Kindle, sales have tripled since 100,000 units were sold in 2006. E Ink Holdings generated $650 million in sales last year, and this year it expects to surpass $1 billion in revenue, according to Peruvemba. This includes e-paper and other technologies such as FFS for LCDs, the technology licensed to LCD display companies that is used in the latest Apple products - closing the gap further between LCDs and OLED.
Video capability
As anyone with an e-reader knows, it takes tens of milliseconds to update the page. New display drivers however can improve on this, and E-ink with Freescale have shown a demonstration of video being shown on an E ink display. You can watch the demonstration at the following link: External Link.
Hear Sriram Peruvemba present how the company has become the most successful organization by revenue in printed electronics and where it goes next at the IDTechEx Printed Electronics USA 2011 event in Santa Clara, CA on Nov 30-Dec 1. Printed Electronics USA 2011
