Dr Kimberly Allen of iSuppli, a highly regarded analyst of the OLED scene writes,

"The OLED market is continuing to grow, but it is increasingly bumping up against its main competitor, the LCD. Indeed, many of the key OLED companies are also key LCD companies. This means the rise of the OLED market becomes a strategic planning issue rather than an LCD-versus-OLED scenario.Active matrix OLEDs will be ready for mass production by several companies during 2006. The key issue is: what application would be best? Possibilities include mobile phone main displays, PDAs, and the interesting new category of personal media players (PMPs). Or might AMOLEDs find a niche in the automotive or industrial markets? Some are concerned that there is a dearth of desirable applications for AMOLED, while others see more opportunity than was available in the passive market. My OLED 2005 report series addresses all of these key market issues so that the full picture of the OLED sitaution is clear. It contains an updated forecast by application, size, region and active/passive. So if you want technology updates, company profiles, manufacturing information in addition to news about what all the players are up to right now, contact iSuppli today at 310.524.4007 info@isuppli.com"
