imaging Technology international (iTi) Corporation, a leader in the development and manufacture of proven digital inkjet systems for industrial applications, has appointed technology innovator and entrepreneur, John Spiers to its Board of Directors. Spiers also serves as an advisor for the company's newly established solar division, iTi Solar, which focuses on delivering next generation thin-film solar cell manufacturing processes using inkjet technologies. Reflecting confidence in the significant value-creating opportunity inkjet brings to solar cell manufacturing, Spiers has made a personal investment in iTi Corporation.

"John Spiers' technology acumen and track record of creating investor value with breakthrough innovations make him a great asset to our board," said Dr. Ross Mills, chairman of the board and founder, iTi Corporation.

"Solar energy production remains far too expensive today, and is ripe for breakthroughs that make it a practical, economic source of renewable energy," said Bruce Morgan, chief executive officer, iTi Corporation. "Inkjet technology has the potential to enable the production of thin-film photovoltaic solar cells that are as efficient as today's silicon-based solar cells, but at a fraction of the cost. We are pleased that John is advising iTi Solar and promoting the rapid deployment of low-cost manufacturing technologies."

Spiers founded LeftHand Networks, Inc. in November 1999 where he served as chief technology officer, developing and advancing innovative clustered storage technologies. LeftHand Networks was acquired by Hewlett Packard in 2008. Prior to founding LeftHand Networks, Spiers served as director of engineering at Maxtor Corporation where he developed market leading automation and information technology systems for electronics manufacturing. Spiers holds a number of patents and was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist in 2005 and 2006. Spiers holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado.

"iTi Corporation is in an exciting phase of its growth. With patented inkjet technologies and a new division focused exclusively on solar technologies, iTi is ideally positioned to enable the manufacture of highly efficient, next generation thin-film solar cells that will dramatically improve the economics of today's solar cell manufacturing," said John Spiers, iTi Corporation board member and advisor. "Moreover, iTi Solar is currently developing technologies that have the potential to reduce solar cell manufacturing costs to where solar energy is competitive with traditional energy sources such as coal and electricity - without any of the government subsidies required today."

iTi Solar's core mission is to drive substantial efficiencies into solar cell manufacturing with inkjet printing technologies. The company's patented inkjet technology has the potential to enable the production of the lowest cost, highest efficiency solar thin-film panels in the industry.

About iTi Solar

iTi Solar, a division of imaging Technology international (iTi) Corporation, has been established to advance the economics of clean, renewable energy through the use of industrial inkjet technologies. iTi Solar develops precision industrial inkjet systems for use in the manufacturing of efficient, low-cost solar cells. Inkjet technologies combined with flexible, thin film substrates have the potential to significantly reduce solar cell manufacturing costs, producing solar energy that cost less than today's traditional energy sources such as hydro electric power, coal, oil and gas. iTi Solar's vision is to develop new technologies for printheads and nanomaterials that will revolutionize the solar cell market.
