iSuppli have predicted that OLED sales will fall short this year by 0.9 million units originally projected by the analyst firm. They say this is due to rising competitive pressure from cheap liquid crystal displays LCDs. Additionally, iSuppli note that several active-matrix OLED products scheduled for release in 2004 have been delayed until next year.
Global sales of OLEDs are projected to be 35.3 million units this year, up from 16.8 million in 2003, but 0.9 million less than originally projected. Revenues are expected to reach $429 million, up from $246 million in 2003.
However, iSuppli still say they expect 289 million OLED units to be shipped in 2010.
