Marko Hanhikorpi appointed as new CEO of Enfucell

The board of Enfucell has appointed Mr. Marko Hanhikorpi, M. Sc. (Chem. Eng.), eMBA, as new CEO commencing August 12, 2009. The former CEO since 2007 Mr. Juha Koskinen returns to his own consulting company.
Hanhikorpi arrives at Enfucell from Balancion Ltd, where he worked as director of operations. Marko has also worked in various managerial positions in R&D and production at UPM Raflatac, and at Confidex Ltd, where he was a founding partner and VP R&D from 2005-2008.

Enfucell's main focus is on printed electronics and is a Vantaa; Finland based technology company with its roots in the Helsinki University of Technology.
Enfucell has developed SoftBattery™, a thin, flexible 1.5 & 3 volt environmentally friendly power source optimally utilized in disposable and short lifetime products. Potential SoftBattery™ applications include; RFID (radio frequency identification) micro sensors, functional packaging, and cosmetic and pharmaceutical delivery systems.
Enfucell has received numerous international awards for the development of the SoftBattery, one of the latest by the Guardian who selected Enfucell as one of the hottest private cleantech companies in Europe on the "Cleantech100" list published in September, 2008.
Enfucell was founded in 2002 and employs twenty people, including a presence in the United States, and it is owned by its founders, private investors, Veraventure Oy, a Finnish governmental venture fund, and Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Co., the largest private sector pension insurance company in Finland. In addition to its owners, Enfucell has been financially supported by Tekes, The Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation.
Enfucell is currently seeking funding of 2-5 million euros to strengthen its internationalization and battery production development.
