Coop Denmark, a leading consumer goods retailer, plan to implement graphic electronic shelf labels using ZBD ePaper displays with Delfi Technologies Breece System within their stores in Denmark and Greenland. The first phase of the rollout is for 77 stores with an initial order value of DKK 50 million (US $9.2 million). The rollout is already underway and further installations are expected to follow.
With an annual turnover of approximately DKK 50 billion (US $9.2 billion) and over 35,000 employees, Coop Denmark is a giant in Danish retail. Today, Coop Denmark operates the retail chains Kvickly, SuperBrugsen, Dagli'Brugsen, coop.dk, and the subsidiaries Irma A/S and Fakta A/S.
Coop is owned by FDB, a cooperative with over 1.7 million members.
Svend Envoldsen, CIO at Coop Denmark, explained the reasons for selecting ZBD's fully graphic electronic shelf labels and Delfi's Breece System. "We've tested the system in several stores. The combination of the gains we've seen here, along with the graphic solution, price and easy installation, helped to form the basis for the agreement we have signed."
"We are convinced that the solution can streamline operations in our different chain stores and provide customers with the additional cconfidence that prices always are correct. At the same time, we see a sensible return on our investment." Svend Envoldsen added.
Colin Garrett, Chairman of ZBD, said, "We are delighted that Coop Denmark is expanding its use of the ZBD solution to a broader set of stores, having proven the strong business case that it has delivered in the initial stores. Many of these use cases go way beyond just price changes."
Colin Garrett continued,"This order mirrors an expansion of use that we are seeing across all of our European and US clients. ZBD is now one of the leading growth stories in the UK tech industry with three years of near 400% growth set to continue".
ZBD designs and supplies electronic shelf edge labels and associated software solutions for the global retail industry. The company has developed the next generation of LCD, creating a high-contrast bistability that requires no battery power to retain its image. Their range of epaper displays provides retailers with a total store solution and the ability to manage and update pricing, product and promotional information at point of purchase, dynamically.
