Hosokawa Micron has expanded its range of inorganic compound nanoparticles created by its NANOCREATOR process. In electronics and electrics, the first applications targeted by Hosokawa are fuel cells but IDTechEx expects that use in thin film dielectrics for transistors and other electronic applications may come later.

These nanoparticles are too big to exhibit quantum effects so this is not competition for companies such as Evident Technologies of the USA which supplies inorganic compound semiconductors and conductors of a few nanometers in size that exhibit quantum effects to give superlative electrical properties. However, the properties of the larger nanoparticles are better understood and they can give transistor dielectrics with ten times the capacitance of organic versions. Companies such as Hewlett Packard and Motorola have been printing such transistor gates in the laboratory.
