Glossary: Retail RFID

Potentially the largest RFID sector because most barcodes are used on retail goods and the RFID tag is seen as a better alternative and ultimately a replacement that will also perform many other functions. Wal-Mart alone has 98,000 suppliers it is asking to fit RFID to pallets and cases and item level tagging for RFID could involve trillions of tags - possibly even ten trillion yearly - mainly for retail produce.
