During a recent tour, the US band Black Eyed Peas were spotted wearing costumes embroidered with LEDs and OLED lighting panels.
In collaboration with Nancy Tilbury and working with B. Akerlund, the industry's leading stylist and costume designer, Benjamin Males and Associates worked with Marc DaVits, the video jacket expert, on three light suits for members of the band.
This seems a common theme for Fergie, one of the band's lead singers who also wore an electroluminescent dress at the 2011 Billboard Awards in Las Vegas. Electroluminescent wires were animated in time to the music using a micro controller based system equipped with a wireless controlled trigger that was activated off-stage.
The projects were carried out for Philips Lighting under the directorship of the lighting designer Rogier van der Heide.
